Founded in 2019, the Scottish Institute for Emotion-Focused Therapy (SI-EFT) exists to promote the development of Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) in Scotland and elsewhere. It organises advanced training and networking for EFT therapists, acts as a clearinghouse for EFT therapists and supervisors, and provides resources to support psychotherapists and counsellors in their journey to becoming effective and compassionate EFT practitioners and supervisors.
Emotion Focused Therapy is an empirically-supported psychotherapy approach that views emotions as central to human functioning and therapeutic change. An emotion-focused approach promotes emotional awareness, expression, regulation, understanding and transformation of emotion. EFT is appropriate for people presenting with a wide range of psychological difficulties and problems in living. EFT therapists are dedicated to the scientific study of the process of human change in therapy.
